Creative meeting of young Ugorians with artist Evgeny Yakovlev has been held in Khanty-Mansiysk today.
The event was held in the framework of the creative laboratory "Route to Cinema".
Evgeny Yakovlev is a well-known illustrator and comic book author with very extensive drawing experience, he is also a screenwriter. The style of this artist is very bright, many well-known publishers have already offered him cooperation. The author's works have been published not only in Russia, but also in America, Sweden, the Czech Republic, and other countries. Moreover, the Russian artist drew for such a large American comic book publisher as "BOOM!Studios", and now closely cooperates with the well-known Russian publishing house "BUBBLE".
In addition to working on large story comics, the illustrator also occasionally pleases his readers with small humorous sketches on various topics.
Evgeny told the children where he started: "I have been interested in comics since childhood, collecting them, studying them, but I started creating by myself only 10 years ago. In fact, coming up with stories is not so difficult, I can easily develop the topic in my head. The main thing is to get hold of an idea. It is difficult to work in the same area. In this case, I take part in various competitions or get distracted by strips: these are such short strip comics."
A successful coincidence was the holding of the XIII Festival of Children's and Youth Books in the capital of Ugra, where Evgeny Yakovlev became the guest of honour.
The illustrator has such comics to his name as "Girl and Stone", "Wolf Helsing", "Ziggy the Space Hamster" and many others. Last year, a new book "Russian Fairy Tales in Comics" was published. The author talked about it in more detail.
"One New Year’s Eve, I sat down to draw a comic about Kolobok (fairy tale character) and realized that we do not have any Russian fairy tales in comic style. I got enthusiastic over this idea, - Evgeny told the children about the history of creating the book. – In the best case, such a project is created in six months, but I was able to implement it in two months, so much I was inspired by it. I was interested in working out the smallest details that always help to develop the imagination."
It should be noted that on March 6 and 7, Evgeny Yakovlev will hold creative meetings with young Ugorians, book presentations, master classes on creating comics in the village of Poykovsky in the Nefteyugansk district and in Khanty-Mansiysk, as well as head a round table for teenagers on the topic "What comics? You haven't read Pushkin yet": Whether comics can help you love reading?".
