International Debut Film Festival "Spirit of Fire" has been just presented in Berlin.
The event was included in the program of the international cultural project "Russian Seasons in Germany" implemented by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation in 2019.
A delegation from Ugra headed by the Governor of the region Natalya Komarova presented the Festival at The Russian House of Science and Culture during the 69th Berlin International Film Festival. Sergey Nechaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Federal Republic of Germany became the honorary guest of the event.
"I warmly welcome the Khanty-Mansiysk friends who brought a wonderful presentation of the cultural and humanitarian potential of one of the richest and most distinctive regions of Russia. Natalya, this gift fits so well into the "Russian Seasons", which we solemnly opened a few weeks ago in Berlin. This project is a demonstration not only of the works and great musicians of the centre of Russia but also of the regions that keep rich local traditions and various genres of folklore. This is a good opportunity to show the sophisticated German audience who knows well Russian culture all the richness of our multi-ethnic, multi-religious spiritual culture. We wish the Festival "Spirit of Fire" a long and grateful journey, many spectators, success", – said Sergey Nechaev.
The Governor of the Autonomous Okrug invited all present to Ugra: "Dear friends, thank you very much for coming to us today. We invite you to the "Spirit of Fire" Film Festival, to biathlon, to chess. Just to the river, fishing, rest. Ugra is a wonderful place which is nice to visit for every person on Earth because when you come to us for the first time, you will want to come back again and again."
For the guests of the event, the Autonomous Okrug became a little closer thanks to a photo exhibition, an exhibition of traditional craft and a performance of Vera Kondratyeva, the Ugric musician, composer and singer of Ob Ugrians. She performed her solo program starting with the author's song "Ugra, you are my land" dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the first mention of the region in the ancient Russian chronicles.
"17 years of existence of the Festival is a big and serious age because not all festivals exist so much, even in the world. Each festival consists of seemingly simple things: people, movies and venue, and each time they in different proportions give a unique result, – the Chairman of the Selection Committee of "Spirit of Fire" Boris Nelepo said. - I know Khanty-Mansiysk very well, and it really interests people, because it is Siberia, and there are myths and legends about it, everyone wants to see it with their own eyes. In addition, there live the peoples of Khanty and Mansi that now are in the centre of attention, because of the interest in the local culture. For example, at this Festival, we will show a Brazilian film about the indigenous population of Brazil. For so many years the Festival has formed its image, it is inseparable from Khanty-Mansiysk and the region".
After the presentation, the Ugra residents took part in a meeting with representatives of international cinema: film critic and artistic director of Locarno International Film Festival, the Director of the Berlin Film Festival Carlo Chatrian, the Argentine head of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival Cecilia Barrionuevo, Portuguese director of the Doclisboa International Film Festival Cintia Gil and the German producer, representative of "German Films" in Eastern Europe Simone Baumann.
The evening ended with a gala concert of soloists of the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra under the leadership of People's artist of the USSR Uriy Bashmet.
