MAKSIM TRAPO
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY

Born in 1975 in Alma-Ata, USSR. In 1997 graduated from the department of cinematography at VGIK (class of A.Knyazhinsky, V.Nakhabtsev, A.Rybin, S.Medynsky). Board member of the Guild of Cinematographers of Russia. Member of the IMAGO RGC. Teaches at the Moscow School of New Cinema. During his student years he won awards at the St. Anna Film Festival for the cinematography for “Fragile” (1993) and “Close Up” (1997). The movie “Ellipsis” (2006) which he shot, won the CICAE diploma for poetic imagery at the Locarno IFF. As the director of photography of “Franz + Polina” (2007) he received numerous awards at international film festivals including the P.Lebeshev Award for Best Cinematography at the “Spirit of Fire”. He worked at the movies and TV series “Blooming Hill in the Barren Field”, “April” (2001), “Don’t Even Think About It!” (2002), “The Gentlemen of the Sea Star” (2003), “Infidelity” (2006), “Tumbler” (2007), “Radio Day” (2008), “Astana My Love” (2010), “The Third World War” (2013), “Her Name Was Mumu” (2015), “The Heathen” (2017), “Etudes about Freedom” (2018), etc.
