Born in 1966. Live in Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg). In 1988 he graduated from the Ural Polytechnic Institute, in 2000 – from VGIK as a scriptwriter (class of Valentin Chernykh, Lyudmila Kozhinova, Yuri Rogozin). In 1990–2004 worked as economist at the Sverdlovsk Film Studios, from 2005 – at the 29th February Film Company as director, producer, scriptwriter. Member of the European Film Academy and the Asia Pacific Screen Academy. Winner of Russian film awards Nika, Golden Eagle and White Elephant. Prizewinner of national and international film festivals. His filmography includes “David” (2002, doc.), “Children of the White Grave” (2003, doc.), “The First on the Moon” (2004), “The Railway” (2008), “Bath Day” (2009, doc.), “Silent Souls” (2010), “Wind Shuvgey”, “Australia” (2011, doc.), “Celestial Wives of the Meadow Mari” (2012), “Angels of Revolution” (2014), “Anna's War” (2018), “Cinema of Change's Era” (2018, doc.), “The Last Darling Bulgaria” (2021), “Big Snakes of Ulli-Kale” (2022), “The Coin of the Country of Malawi” (2022, doc.), etc.
